Rebates

Medicare rebates

You can access a rebate from Medicare if you obtain a referral from a private treating consultant psychiatrist or paediatrician, or a mental health care plan (MHCP) from your GP. A mental health care plan provides rebates for up to ten psychology sessions per calendar year. Medicare rebates range from $93.35 (psychologist) to $137.05 (clinical psychologist) - what's the difference?

Mindstate Psychology will process the Medicare rebate on your behalf if payment is made in full on the day.

Private health insurance rebates

If you have a private health insurance policy with ancillary (extras) cover, you may be covered for clinical psychology. Contact your insurer to check if you are covered, if any waiting periods need to be served and what rebate you can expect. Rebates are generally between $40.00 to $70.00 per session.

Workers compensation, motor vehicle accident insurance or employee assistance programs (EAPs)

In some cases clinical psychology may be covered by workers compensation, motor vehicle accident insurance or another organisation (such as through an employee assistance program). Please contact your provider to check if you are covered. If you have a pending or approved claim, one of our psychologists can contact your provider to ascertain how many sessions you are entitled to.

NDIS or DVA rebates

Some of our therapists will see people under NDIS or DVA. Contact us for more information.
