The Model
We don't deliver psychology — you do. Mindstate exists to remove every obstacle between a registered psychologist and their clients. We provide infrastructure, not oversight. Practitioners run their own practice inside ours, keep clinical autonomy, and lean on a team whose entire job is to make that practice easier to run.

Director of Mindstate Psychology

Psychology jobs Perth

Built on a different model

Mindstate Psychology is one of Perth's leading providers of psychology jobs and a genuine destination for private-practice psychology jobs, structured around a facilities model rather than traditional employment. Clinicians run their own client work while we run the business behind it. Founded in 2018 by Dr Phil Watts, Mindstate has grown into one of the leading destinations for psychologists seeking a career in private practice in Western Australia, with particular depth in forensic assessments, risk assessments, and work with families affected by trauma or complex presentations. Psychologists here also collaborate closely with social workers, counsellors and carers as part of integrated client care. Joining Mindstate Psychology is an exciting opportunity for psychologists to join a community of like-minded health professionals in a collaborative and highly regarded WA psychology practice.

Psychology Jobs at Mindstate: FAQs

Everything you need to know before you apply.

What psychology jobs does Mindstate Psychology offer in Perth?

We regularly have opportunities across clinical psychology, forensic assessment, and neurodevelopmental evaluation. As a leading provider of psychology jobs in Perth, we welcome applications year-round, even outside advertised vacancies. We grow when the right clinican arrives.

Do I need AHPRA registration to apply for psychology jobs at Mindstate?

Yes. All clinical roles require full, current AHPRA registration. We welcome applicants across registration types and experience levels, including those moving from contract or part-time academic/clinical roles.

Does Mindstate offer private practice psychology jobs?

Yes — Mindstate is built specifically for private practice psychology jobs. Rather than a standard employment model, psychologists run their own client work inside our infrastructure, with income tied to the work they take on.

Do you offer part-time or contract psychologist roles in Perth?

Our roles are generally structured as fixed, ongoing positions rather than short-term contracts, but we work with each practitioner to structure a diary and caseload that fits their availability, including part-time arrangements.

Do you hire psychologists for forensic or neurodevelopmental work?

Yes. Alongside general clinical psychology, we regularly have opportunities in forensic assessment (including risk assessments), autism and ADHD diagnostics, and neurodevelopmental evaluation, supported by senior practitioners with deep experience in these areas.

Will I get a steady stream of client referrals?

Referral generation, intake screening and waitlist management are handled centrally, so psychologists start with a caseload matched to their scope and availability rather than having to build a client base from scratch. While we cannot guarantee referrals due to factors outside our control, our admin and marketing teams work hard to ensure we distribute work across the practice according to availability, presenting concerns and client preferences.

Ultimately, we only make money when you are busy, so we are incentivised to keep you busy!

Do you offer placements for provisional psychologists or other students?

Unfortunately, our capacity to support placements is limited. Our business model relies on psychologists who can manage their own clinical caseload and work; we do not routinely take provisional psychologists. We may, from time to time, offer places for psychologists completing their clinical registrar program, provided they are eligible for Medicare and willing to manage their own business. Placement roles, if any, are advertise below.
